collective motion - hubris
Track 05 from the Linux Open Source Sound CD.
Collective Motion is Lx Rudis and Beau Casey of San Francisco's Drum Machine Museum. The duo's first track for release ?Hubris? was made entirely with synthesized sounds and no samples of any kind. All midi sequences were originally composed for the track by the authors. The track was recorded in real-time using a minimum of post-production mastering. The total approximate track length for the song is 3 minutes and 58 seconds.
How We did it: This track was performed on a small ensemble of hardware synths including a Yamaha XG Y-70, Two Alesis Air FX signal processors, a Korg Koas Pad, a Korg Electribe EA-1, and a Korg Electribe ER-1. Mixing was done using a Behringer DX 100 Pro Mixer. The computer used to record the track used a 1.5Ghz Athlon CPU on an Aopen Motherboard. The Operating system of the machine was Stanford University's Plan et CCRMA's distribution of Redhat 9. The initial recording was done with Audacity, a hard-disc record application. Mastering for the track was performed using ReZound, a sound file editor and recorder.
